I’ve decided to rename my solo project from Ann Driscoll to MY FAKE FUNERAL. We are playing a show tomorrow, 4/17 at Church, which is at 69 Kilmarnock Street, Boston, MA 02215.
I’ve posted a rough mix of “Jesus Don’t Like Beggars” on the myspace, recorded by Kailynn West over the past month. Dabbo Caucci played bass. Bruno Esrubilsky played drums. And I played guitar and sang.
From our new myspace:
MY FAKE FUNERAL is a rock band featuring Ann Driscoll on vocals/guitar, Dabbo Caucci on bass, Bruno Esrubilsky on drums, and Justin Hancock on guitar. They showcased at SXSW 2010 and will be performing at the Austin City Limits Festival this October.
Here’s a FAQ:
Q: How’d you get your name?
A: My Fake Funeral is the title of a short musical that Ann wrote, satirizing reality television. You can watch an excerpt from a class reading. That said, this band has nothing to do with that musical. The name just stuck.
Q: So what’s the difference between Ann Driscoll, the band, and MY FAKE FUNERAL, anyway?
A: MY FAKE FUNERAL is Ann Driscoll’s solo project. The songs are from the old Ann Driscoll-solo-artist catalog. But we are working on new ones as a band and collaborating creatively.
Q: But can I still buy those charming, indie pop Ann Driscoll recordings, like “Trophy Fuck”?
A: Yes- you can. On iTunes, you can find the single, “Trophy Fuck” as well as the album, Young Tracks which Driscoll wrote and recorded entirely herself from the ages of 16-19.
Q: When’s the debut MY FAKE FUNERAL record coming out?
A: August 2010
